Lately

Lately, we've simply been enjoying the summer and watching our little Jakey grow up right before our eyes. He's gone from being my tiny baby to being my active, silly toddler!  I feel like we are buddies hanging out all day. This is a really fun age and I realize that it will pass all too quickly. So for now, I am soaking it up.

We've been exploring new parks lately and found a really fun water park. This park has a section where water is flowing out of buckets and sprayers all day long. It sure helps out especially since we've already had very hot days in the hundreds. Jacob wasn't too sure about the spraying water at first, but slowly warmed up and ended up getting pretty wet.

"Barbara Ann" by the Beach Boys has been played multiple times a day by request. This little boy loves this song. I don't know if he thinks they are saying "Ball ball ball, ball ball ball ann"...but that might be one reason he loves it so much. I often hear him walking around the house singing it. Here he is below watching the live performance on Youtube.

I have finally found something Jacob likes to play with. He loves to play with his barbecue. He opens the lid, waves his hand back and forth, and says "hot", "hot"! Then he'll close the lid and turn the temperature dials. He has always been obsessed with barbecues. He loves to help John when we barbecue dinner. Also, when we go to Target he passes all the toy aisles and finds the barbecues in the back of the store. He'll check all of them out and say "hot". He's so funny how he loves them! I'm just happy I have finally found something he will play with!

One of Jacob's new words is "empa" meaning Temple. He loves to see the Temple every Sunday when we go to church. I am so glad he is learning what the temple is and that it already has a special place in his heart. Last week during the middle of sunday school he saw a picture of the temple on the wall and shouted "empa"! He can't hold back his excitement for it!

Every Wednesday and Friday nights there are free concerts in the park/shopping centers. We have loved getting out and enjoying the warm weather. Usually we end up walking around saying hi to all the dogs, but still it's pretty fun!

Our sweet little boy will be 18 months in a couple weeks! For now I will just enjoy him at 17 months. Needless to say, he's a pretty fun buddy to have around all day!
