We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas with John's family this year! On Christmas Eve morning we headed out to a train museum which Jacob and William loved. Some of the trains are huge!
All the stockings hung. And you can't beat a fire in the family room :)
Christmas morning was fun for me, especially watching all of Jacob's facial expressions as he dug through his stocking and opened presents. For each piece of candy he pulled out he had a new face.
The three little boys sitting on their stools that Grandpa Shafer built for them.
We even got a picture with baby Lucy...although sorry you can't see her adorable face. She is an absolute doll!
Jacob is proud to be sitting on his stool.
His favorite present are his tools. He LOVES them!
We spent New Years week at my parents' house. For new years eve we made delicious copy-cat cafe rio and then played games until midnight. I forgot to take pictures of all the fun.
Jacob's birthday is January 2nd so we celebrated on the 1st since everyone was at my parents' house that night.
He simply loved all the attention of everyone singing to him.
I think we sang to him four times and he blew out his candles countless times. He couldn't wait until the end of the song to blow them out because he was so excited. John would repeatedly light the candles throughout the song. The video I have of it all is simply precious.
Keeping with tradition, we took a silly picture with everyone there to celebrate. For Jakey's b-day everyone had someone on their shoulders. John and I shared Jacob on our shoulders and my dad seemed to find someone as well since all the kids were taken :)
On Jacob's actual birthday we went to the mall with my mom, two sisters, and sister-in-law. We had fun eating lunch and shopping. My mom took Jacob to the Disney store and bought him a present. She picked out the perfect thing. He loves "horse-guy".
We've officially moved Jacob to a big-boy bed since he simply won't stay in his crib anymore. I gave up on his crib when he climbed out of it one night at 4 a.m. and came and found me in my room. I didn't want him climbing out in the dark in case he fell and got hurt, and he won't even stay in it when I put him in for bed time. It was time for a bed.
And he loves it.
It was a little sad for me to make the transition, but seeing that he loves sleeping in a real bed has made it a little easier for me. So far, he lays down and goes to bed pretty good. A few nights he has woken up at 4 or 5 a.m. and comes to find me in my bed.
And since he won't lay down in his bed for naps...I often find him on the couch like this while I am making dinner. Poor guy...
Friday the fourth was a fun day for us since we found out some exciting news.
This little boy...
...is getting a brother!
I'm due the end of May and we are so excited! I'm looking forward to having two little boys. They will be best friends!
